About Us
Since it’s founding in 2001 Dimster Architecture has focused on providing a minimalist approach to all aspects of design. Don Dimster is a second-generation architect, studying at USC under his father, Frank Dimster FAIA, and receiving his master’s degree from Yale University. Don established his firm locally, but draws from a globally trained skill set. Working in Germany and Vienna he was inspired by great contemporary masters, including his mentor Oswald Matias Ungers. Bringing their influence to his own work, he has successfully created a vision of quiet simplicity.
Born and raised in California, Don set roots in Venice and has designed in the Los Angeles area as well as in Northern California and Manhattan. Don’s custom Venice home was featured on the 2013 Venice Home and Garden Tour and the 2013 Art Walk Architectural Tour and won the 2013 AIA Award for Excellence in Architecture. In addition to architecture, Don’s passion for design transcends into the interior in the form of original furniture and art. The extensive portfolio of Dimster Architecture projects includes residential, gallery, restaurants, retail and commercial spaces. Each project is approached in a unique way with careful thought to the complexity and options provided as well as the specific needs of the client.
